Bridesmaids!

In reading Jeanne's blog, I realized that I haven't introduced any of the bridal party!  Oops!!  I will start with my lovely bridesmaids, and hopefully, Malcolm will add his groomsmen.

MAID OF HONOR - WENDY

Wendy and I met our first year of college at UCLA when we lived on the same floor in Reiber Hall - 2 North!  We actually met three times before it finally clicked that we had met each other before.  Haha.  The 3rd time we met, we were actually at a floor mixer in the student lounge and everyone was told to stick 1 shoe into a large bin.  We then each had to pick one shoe from the bin and go find the owner.  It must've been fate because I got Wendy's shoe (or did she get mine??)!  Since that night, Wendy and I have been best of friends.  No matter where we are, we manage to chat few times each week, if not daily.  Wendy has the sweetest heart and believes the best in people.  I am truly blessed to have her in my life.  I love you, Wendy!

BRIDESMAID - JENNIFER

Jen and I met while we both at Loyola Law School.  I was lucky enough to be in the same track as Jen and we instantly clicked.  I struggled a lot at LLS and Jen was definitely a lifesaver.  It's really hard to meet quality people, especially in law school because everyone is so competitive (and not because wannabe lawyers are shady!).  Jen is brilliant, well-grounded, not to mention gorgeous!, and an amazing friend.  We are kindred spirits.  I love you, Jen!

BRIDESMAID - JEANIE

One of my oldest friends, Jeanie and I have known each other since 7th grade at Earl Warren Jr. High in San Diego.  We've actually known of each other since 5th grade when we had the same piano teacher (remember Mrs. Godkin, her daughter Masha, the telephone and Madonna??) but didn't become friends until I moved into her school district the summer after 6th grade.  Jeanie knows the best and worst about me, and I wouldn't have survived the hardest time of my life without her.  Jeanie is fiercely loyal, extremely trusting, and maintains a SAT vocabulary!  Jeanie is family to me, and I am so happy that she is one of my bridesmaids.  I love you, Jeans!

BRIDESMAID - MICHELLE

Michelle and I met our first year of UCLA (along with Wendy) when we were neighbors.  We lived in the last 2 rooms of the hallway.  We both had less than ideal roommates (Jeanarta!  Valerie! EWWWWW!!) and we bonded by hanging out in the hallway together.  Michelle was also sweet enough to introduce me to her friends, who eventually became amazing friends of mine as well, including Charity!  Michelle and I took our biology classes together, and while I suffered through LS 1 and LS 2, Michelle flourished through the entire series and became the genius professor she now is today!  Michelle has such a generous heart and beautiful spirit.  I am so lucky to have Michelle as my friend.  I love you, Mish!!

BRIDESMAID - CHARITY

I met Charity our first year at UCLA through Michelle.  While Mish and I lived on the 2nd floor of Reiber Hall, Charity lived 2 floors above us.  The first night of 1st quarter, Michelle knocked on my room door and she asked if I wanted to go up to the 4th floor and meet her friend Charity.  Since that fateful day, Charity has been one of my closest friends.  Charity is one of those rare and amazing people who has dedicated her life to helping others.  I wish I could be as humble, caring, big-hearted, and so intelligent as Charity is.  I love you, Char!!

BRIDESMAID - CONNIE

Connie is the youngest of the bridesmaids (lucky girl!) and is Malcolm's cousin.  In the past 2 or so years, I've had the chance to really get to know Connie, and I am so glad that I did!  Connie is so talented, funny and well-loved by everyone around her.  She just started her first year in college and I know she will do so well.  I look forward to wonderful things from Connie.  I am so happy that she has agreed to be a part of our wedding.  I love you, Connie!

Scripps Forum

We've been super excited about our wedding location.  We were lucky enough to find it on our first trip down to San Diego, and it was by total chance that we found the location.  I wanted to check out the Birch Aquarium in La Jolla, which we did but was not totally impressed with.  As we were driving out of the Birch parking lot, we noticed signs to parking for another wedding.  So we followed those signs and ended up at the Scripps Forum!  There was a wedding about to start but the event coordinator for the Forum, Donna, was kind enough to let us check out the location before the wedding started!

Julian & Christina's Wedding

Last weekend, Malcolm and I went to Julian and Christina's wedding which was held at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda, CA.  It was a beautiful location for a wedding.  I had no idea that the Nixon Library was such a gorgeous place.

Congratulations to Julian and Christina!

The adorable flower girls!

Sneak Peak!!

I'm stuck in class right now, and I decided to randomly check out our photographer Sherri Jackson's website.  And low and behold, Sherri posted one picture from our engagement photo shoot!  I'm so excited!  I'm super happy with this picture.  This was actually one of our last pictures we took.  We followed Sherri to her subway train (no, we weren't stalking) and she took pictures of us in the subway station and in the train itself.

Hopefully, the rest of the pictures will turn out this well!

Labor Day Weekend in NYC

For Labor Day, Malcolm and I decided to spend time in NYC and take our engagement pictures there.  Malcolm always has lots of great ideas, and the most brilliant one so far is taking engagement pictures in both NYC and LA.

On Monday, September 8 at 7 am, Malcolm and I met with our photographer Sherri Jackson in Central Park.  What started out to be a grey and cloudy morning bloomed into a gorgeous sunny day.  While we waited for Sherri to meet us, we sat on a bench, drinking hot tea (it was so cold!), and saw lots and lots of doggies out for their morning jog.

Check out Sherri's blog.  We found her on Yelp and I love her (photographic) style.  It's not cheesy nor is it gritty.  She was easy to work with AND she put up with us dorks.  Hopefully, the pictures will be great.

We also spent a lot of our weekend going to the US Open in Flushing Meadows, and wandering around the city, eating and taking dorky pictures.

At the US Open, we saw several matches including Serena Willams, Venus Williams, and Rafael Nadal.  Malcolm's friends Jeff and Shiao were kind enough to get us tickets to Novac Djokovic play on Monday night.  We were like 4 rows from the front!  It was pretty awesome.

Here is a picture of Novac Djokovic:

For some strange reason, there were a lot of really old men wearing shorts that they shouldn't be wearing.  A perfect example is as follows:

Planning...

Malcolm and I have been dating for an incredibly long time (although Malcolm denies that 6 years is long).  We started dating in our mid-20s, and 6 years later, we're still dating although definitely moving in a great direction.  =)

To make up for the long dating, I think I've managed to convince Malcolm to have a short engagement!  Hehehe....Rather, I've convinced Malcolm that we should get married in February 2010.  Since today is September 3, 2009, that gives us exactly 6 months to plan.  6 years of dating, 6 months to plan ...

So we got confirmation that we have our perfect location reserved for the occasion!  I'm super excited, as the location is gorgeous and I get to have the wedding in San Diego. Now that we have our location pretty much set, I guess that the rest  of the planning madness begins!

Check out our location!  It's beautiful!!
